The Arduino Nano was a hit among the Arduino community for its very affordable price coupled with great performance. Following up on that success, the team over at Arduino got together and worked on producing another Arduino board that is cost-effective and delivers even better performance than the Arduino Nano, an upgrade to say the least. This board is known as the ARDUINO NANO EVERY. Today we will guide you through an overview of what exactly the board has to offer and if it is the right board for you. Let’s get stuck in.
WHAT IS IT?
The Arduino Nano Every is an upgrade to the classic Arduino Nano board. At a cheaper price tag, the Nano Every packs in a more powerful processor, 50% more program memory, 200% more RAM, and much more! However, you must note that compared to the Arduino Nano, this board has a lower EEPROM capacity but the expanded memory makes up for this loss. This tiny microcontroller board is perfect for projects that require a small, capable, and simple-to-use microcontroller. Not only is the Arduino Nano Every suitable for small projects like wearable devices but it is also perfect for controlling smaller sections of more complex projects.

WHAT YOU WILL LOVE ABOUT THE ARDUINO NANO EVERY
With a clock speed of 20 MHz, 48KB Flash Memory, and 6KB SRAM, the Arduino Nano Every is much more capable than other boards in a similar price range (of which there aren’t many) and the price to performance ratio is simply outstanding.
Not much has to be said regarding how awesome the Arduino community is. It is great for beginners in the world of microcontrollers and DIY electronics. Make sure to check it out.
The expanded memory on the Arduino Nano Every is a step up from the memory on the pricier Arduino Nano and this is a great advantage, again especially at the price. The expanded memory allows you more lines of code and better performance overall.
The Arduino Nano Every board is flat at the bottom and it has castellated pads that make it possible for you to solder them onto other PCBs.
WHAT YOU MAY NOT LIKE ABOUT THE ARDUINO NANO EVERY
The Arduino Nano Every incorporates a good amount of IO, with 12 digital, 8 analogs in, and 1 analog out, this is amazing for such a tiny board. However, they could only make this happen by trading off one of the features that larger boards are great for – battery charging. You will need an external source of power to use the Arduino Nano Every board. This will not be much of a problem for most users as they can use the USB port to connect to a source of power but it may be an issue for some projects so it is worth mentioning.
LACK OF CONNECTIVITY
Similar to a lot of Arduino boards including the Nano Classic, one of the downsides of the Arduino Nano Every is the lack of connectivity options. Unfortunately, the Nano does not have any onboard Bluetooth or Wi-Fi capabilities. This is a potential blow because the Internet of Things (IoT) world is growing at an exponential rate and it is very popular in the DIY electronic and PC industry. Although it is possible to add a shield to the Arduino Nano Every to supplement the lack of connectivity, it is an otherwise unnecessary step and adds extra cost to projects requiring Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities.
If you are looking for an affordable, small, 5V microcontroller and don’t mind the lack of connectivity and onboard power supply then look no further, the Arduino Nano Every is the PERFECT board for you. This little board will give you great value for your money. Great for both beginners who want to learn and more experienced tinkerers who want a microcontroller for smaller projects.
